58. Monterey Trip! image heavy, don't view on an empty stomach!

I'm finally back from laziness! The boyfriend and I went down to Monterey on Monday to visit Ms. Cline and go to the aquarium. The night before we stayed up late because my boyfriend was making cheesecake to bring, yum! Then the next morning he made "cupcakes"... gluten-free ones, that is. As he describes... "every baker's worst nightmare". I think they came out kinda yummy though!

Entirely made from scratch, even the crust was made from hand-crushed graham crackers :D

Corn meal cupcakes. I wish I thought to take a picture of the inside. I didn't know he stuffed them with apples! Definitely helped balance out the dryness from the corn meal and lack of sugar.

Afterwards we dropped by another teacher's house to pick up aquarium tickets, then off to eat!! Yeah, we ate dessert first since Ms. Cline had to go somewhere after lunch.

I LOVE this place! We went here before for dinner, so yummy >w< Lunch was even better because we had a card for a free appetizer.

We chose artichoke and fried calamari mix (you can choose just one or mix). I'm not a big fan of artichoke because I'm not very good at eating it, but the calamari alone is worth visiting this place!!

Nothing beats bread and butter! I'm such a fatty <3

And the clam chowder <3

Boyfriend's. I forget exactly what it was, but definitely our least favorite dish.

Ms. Cline's. Crab cakes with rice and veggies. The crab cakes were SO delicious! I wanted more!

Mine. Shrimp and scallop risotto. The shrimp was okay, but the risotto was to die for. The tomatoes were also DELICIOUS, they tasted so fresh and flavorful... I could eat an entire bowl <3

I'm gonna let you guys in on a secret. There's a secret menu for Monterey residents you have to ask for to get this 3-course meal (soup/salad - entree - desert). I'm not sure that these are normally on the regular menu either, so lucky us Ms. Cline knew this menu!!

I don't care too much for coffee, so after Ms. Cline left I dumped the rest of the cream in my cup :3

Yummy key lime pie! My boyfriend didn't like the cream because he tasted the artificial flavors *baker's tongue* I thought the cream complimented the tartness of the pie.

We sat outside above the beach. Wonderful view, even though it was really cold and started raining a little! You can even hear seals :D

The couple in front of us (or Drunks as my boyfriend called them) were drinking a giant margarita in a fish bowl, I swear... actually I guess that's what their really called. Then the waiter brought ANOTHER one, JEEBUS! I wish I took pictures, fucking drunks. o_o

After Ms. Cline left, we decided to walk around and explore before heading to the aquarium.

I love going to this candy store! It's HUGE, and candy EVERYWHERE!! >w<

HOW FREAKING ADORABLE?! I MEAN-- WHUT?!

Now on to the aquarium! Not going to go picture crazy because we took so many! Here's just a few to sum up our visit.

Always our very first visit: The otters were busy cleaning themselves and floating around. At one point it kept cleaning its ass for what seemed like forever, but it was adorable haha.

Giant octopus! It's usually near the back, but today it was all up on the glass being a total cam-whore!! LOOK HOW BIG IT IS!

New(ish) flamingo exhibit! Have you visited it yet? How about the penguins?? <3

Here's some of my favorites.

My boyfriend's, of course. 8D Speaking of hybrids...

Our new baby. <3 Okay, it's an '09, but it's a fucking Hybrid. *proud mama* HAHA

~back to the aquarium :)

There were 2 kids in there that we were waiting to move so my boyfriend could take pictures of the turtle. As soon as they came out, he ran in as fast as he could! The kids both yelled "HEY!!" and ran in too XDD

チュ〜 that was my boyfriend's idea, but I wanted to get in on the action too HAHA

I love the lone star!! wtfff XD

My boyfriend tried to make the same pose, but I'm not going to embarrass him <3 I can easily say though, they were pretty fucking adorable >w<

We also brought home a stuffed bat ray. Each time we visit we adopt a stuffed animal heehee. First was Mr. Otter, then the Garshark, Soup the sea turtle, and now a bat ray. I still haven't named it. :3

Bubba Gump's, but it was only a few hours after we ate lunch so we weren't hungry enough. We were considering just buying some to take home, but decided to just come back again next time. I SO badly wanted that cajun shrimp!! I wish they were sampling it again :'(

DAMN PHOTOGENIC BOYFRIEND! >o<;;

Anyways, we settled on Subway :D

2 foot-longs for $5 each. Totally worth it because it lasted us lupper to dinner *Homer, HAHA*

NEEDS MORE PEPPERS! I want another one *o*

Okay I'll end it there. We might end up going to San Francisco on Monday and finally get us some Bubba Gump!! Also FANIME is next week! Is anyone going?? I'm only going Friday (maybe) and Saturday for MusicFest (FLOW! <3), so I'm praying I work late on Sunday @__@;

Now some pictures of $1 Pop Rocks! Actually it was a box of 8 of them for $1, what a deal! I LOVE having Big Lots next to my work >:D
